not dangerous...just keep using it untill it fails, and then replace with an uprated one so it doesnt fail again....

 

i,ve been running my stage 3 T3 set up by MSD with 26psi spike holding 23psi no probs as yet. as said run it till it goes then replace with group A.

I'm new at this forum and couldn't resist to give you a reply!
Before rebuilding my current engine i used to run my cossie at 25psi with the standard gasket. I don't agree with the idea to let the gasket to fail!!
It could result in a whole disaster, if the gasket fails from a waterway down to the chamber, therefore it could result in water pouring down the piston, this could damage the piston surface and much more worst it could result in a bent conrod!!!!!! and i think that you don't want this to happen.This could result in a whole engine rebuild an would cost you grands!! My advice is to lift off the cylinder head and replace it with a group A item just before it fails. Better safe than sorry mate!

cos 404, I agree that better safe but did you have that problem with gasket which damage the engine?

 

when i up'd the power on mine i did a grpa a gasket straight away.its gonna go anyway.and i always say prevention is better than cure.

 

stage 3 doesnt NEED an uprated gasket though imo..... i know many cars that run standard gaskets and have done so for many years, so it may not fail, or if it does it may have failed anyway.

hence why i said to wait untill it does(if it does) fail before replacement.

yes of course! it was my last experience on my cossie! I was running the car with 25 psi on the standard T3 turbo and the car had only done 35000 miles! The end result was a bent conrod cause of the water sipping down the piston, and everyone knows that water is not compressable.I had also to rebore the block cause of the damage done to the cylinder!
