Turn the 3G off as that saps the battery life.

battery life is poor, but the phone is amazing!

I had the N80 before which I thought was quality (again, even worse battery life)

but this is in a whole different league

I love my flagship model Nokias, lol

Its not big at all its about half the length of your hand when closed. Sure you open it up when using it for me size is about how big it is in the pocket etc.

Its a great phone it has a decent 5mp camera, you can run Route 66 sat nav on it with the internal gps or tomtom with a bluetooth external one (nokia maps is shite) and can use it as mp3 player for when you go for a run in the morning or whatever. It even surfs the net on your home wireless network. I've got no end of shit on my just download it all off torrents and sign it yourself with the sign tool. ( you have to have the certificate made to your IMEI first)

People moan about the battery and sure as a phone battery life its not the best but would your laptop be that great? For all the things it does its pretty good going. Those who get it with branded software/markings won't be able to upgrade to the latest firmware which patches bugs and improves features so do what i did and remove it with the tool and put the generic Nokia one on. That way you don't have to wait for o2, Orange or whoever to authorise the update, if they ever do.

I have no issues with mine going wrong.

Not sure about your experiences mate but my N95 came from o2 on line rental and it was branded with their software and screensaver. When i read about Stu and others updated to latest firmware it was telling me my v11 was the latest update. Hence why i debranded it. Or are you just talking about just a printed logo? Now its on v12.013 or whatever.

That link Gav posted is the one i used as well i think. It contains the guide, link to the nemesis debrand tool and a link to phone codes. Have a quick skim though then follow step by step, piece of piss.

I thought you had the latest firmware though?

This site is also worth a look just in case you come across something you need signing before it will install:

well i hope u havent ordered the old N95 as its super old, the 8gb came out yesterday, 8gb internal memory, larger screen, larger battery, redone GPS and double the amount of RAM so much quicker phone, its only available on VODA until next year tho(christ knows how much that cost to set up)

i do a 12month contract on it for 800mins, 500 texts for Ł50 a month and get u another upgrade on a month 9 so u pay into total Ł450 which is mad as they are going on ebay for 580 now so its like u get the phone for Ł130 cheaper than ebay and u get a completely free contract!

The 8gb memory would be good as i only got a 1gb card with mine so you have to get another but on the other hand there is no micro sd card slot is there? That would mean you have to transfer all files via cable which is slower, instead of usb or pc card readers.

For those that have the N95 already and a decent card i don't see it worthwhile to get it unless you get a free upgrade. Upgraded Nokia maps or not its still not going to measure up to Route66 or Tomtom and co. Installing your apps to phone memory should keep the phone fast and just put your music etc on the card. I'll let people upgrade or get tempted and buy it, get stuck with it then upgrade myself when they bring out a complete new handset not just a "face lift"

Great phone, I loaded maps with smart to go map loader, would like to try route 66. You can stretch the battery to 2 days r maybe abit more but I usually charge it when I'm in the car or at night. Does everything you'll need in a phone, excellent camera, music players good, good video playback... get a 4/8gb micro sdhc card and your flying!

Pleased with mine. Battery is a bit naff but is does lots so shouldn't complain. Camera is a bit slow and for 5mp I don't think the camera is all that great. I have been told that when uploadin they only come out at 3.2mp.

I've experienced no crashing issues but have had issues with it pairing to my Parrot car kit as it won't let me access the phone book.

my mate has just taken his in for repair as the camera stopped working, Nokia have just told him the motherboard is warped so it isn't covered by their warrenty

He's not the kind of person to fuck about with phones either, all his previous phones look brand new when he's done with them

Nokia's are total shit IMO. dont know why everyone rates them so much. That N95 looks like a proper cheap plastic badly made toy I think.

I was gona get the Iphone but it seems there's too many downsides to it.

Best make for phones IMO is samsung and i've had pretty much most makes. Just lost my samsung P300, which looks like an 80's calculator - only for true players - dropped that thing so many times, it got wet loads, never stopped working. Ive had Nokia's in the past you look at them funny they fall appart Couple of the samsung upcoming phones look very interesting too so i'll be waiting to see those.

with most of the N series you need to take off the 3G and just keep it on gsm

what i found out with my N73 when daul mode was enabled it was crap.

since it's been on gsm haven't had a problem .

i will be upgrading soon probaly will go for the N95

is the N80 seires coming out ?

I've just done that, but what does it actually mean?

Have I just disable some functions by doing that or what? Will I ever need to switch it back for anything?
