Default Vauxhall Vectra 2003: No Cigar/Cigarette Lighter?

I found it hard to believe it never had one, but my girlfriends dad just bought a satnav and he has no cigar ligther to plug it into? He phoned vauxhall who told him if it wasn't a factory option he can't have one. I mean, my aunties old metro has one so surely a 2003 car would as standard? Any help?

Cheers, Benni.

I assumed like in the focus you would just have a blanking plug?

On his car there is just a big hole. And no 12v plug.

L33 BYT

Surely there is a 12v hidden somewhere?

Mormally they leave the socket in and put a blanking cover over, when you reques t the smokers pack that add the light. My mates 53 plate Focus did not have the smokers pack instead the cigarette light had a cover with 12V socket written on it, and the ash tray was a small draw that slid out and had a felt lining in.

Ok I had a look, pulled the plastic cover off and nothing is there. Not even the socket to plug a 12v plug into? Nothing more than a big black hole.

Nope, seriously, Vauxhall do not actually install the wiring any more for these things.

A bit like new Zafira's with roof bars, if you do not specifiy it when purchasing new, then you can't have it. Vauxhall even modified the shell on the Zafira to prevent it.

You're best bet would be to get a 17A (or bigger) wire and run it back to the fusebox where the connection would be.

If not, let me know and I will check with the lads in work about it as I work for Vauxhall.

I understand manufacturers not putting the actual cig lighter in there - all our new Ford vans don't have em, but they at least still have the 12v socket in them! The last Connects we had, had a 12v power only socket on one side of the console, and a cig lighter on the other side. Now the newer ones have the 12v power only where the cig lighter was, and where ther 12v power only was is a blanking plate. I ripped the blanking plater out in order to put in the cig lighter I nicked from on of the older vans and the coonts didn't even fit a wiring harness to that side Cooooonts!

My 06 Focus has 12V sockets front and rear but no actually lighter module in it.

It's the nanny state at work again....smoking while driving is dangerous blah blah blah

It just means you have to find something else to light it with

Its because if you don't smoke, you will never have a use for a lighter. Then the socket is turned into a 'power point' for sat navs etc, and the pull out ash tray has a soft felt liner to use as a sunglasses holder
