does my turbo look like its had it?
ive just taken the boost pipe off from between the turbo and metering head and there was oil in the pipe, does this mean the seal has gone? there was also a good 1-2 mm of up and down movement on the shaft.
does this mean its had it? its a hybrid T3/4 large housing turbo, is there anywhere that you could reccomend to get it rebuilt?
heres the pics of the turbo and oil in the pipe.

(thats not water in with the oil, just the reflection)

thanks

On my rs turbo years ago the boost hoses were filling up with oil from the metering unit because it had a bit of backpressure due to the rings being fucked & putting the oil into the black breather hose from the rocker cover that goes into the side metering unit then into the boost hoses
so the oil may not actually be coming out of the turbo? the turbo doesnt smoke at all which i find kind of odd if the oil seal had in actual fact gone.
i'll bear that in mind, thanks carlo.

No probs mate my car was breathing a bit & that black pipe was putting oil in the metering unit then getting sucked through..Took me ages to work out where this oil was coming from..I got the engine rebuilt & put a bailey breather system on it & all the oil was returned back into the sump & was mint ever scince.
i already have a bailey set up on it so that shouldnt really be what the problem is, but i will go through and check it all out to make sure theres no blockages etc.
