Default cosworth engine rebuild

is there a restoration section on this forum that covers full engine rebuilds?

been thinking of buying a cossy and want to carry out the rebuild myself, never taken a cossy engine apart before, is it a specialist job that only certain engine builders can do, or can the average mechanic cover most tasks?

some help and recommendation would be appreciated

depends on what you know about engines
if you have rebuilt an engine before then cannot see why not

unfortunately that seems the way

some people are very helpful and put useful replies, others just see things as a joke because they may they know more than the person asking for help

if i waa going to then the first thing id be buying the cosworth workshop manual

this will tell you everything you need to know, fromstrip and rebuild to take out and fit

gives you all the toque settings, tolerences etc aswell

even tells you have to strip the gearboxes and rebuild them, almost everything in there to give a cossie a good overhaul

and if your still not confident at doing it after reading the manual then just do what i did and let someone else build the engine

matt4 - if you want to pm me i'll help all i can - ive rebuilt 4 yb engines as well as various others and will help all i can. i'd recommend you get a book in the speed pro series which covers most stuff about the pinto engine and other than that its pretty standard stuff. i guess the key issues with a yb are what level of tune you are aiming for but even then the upgrade path is pretty well established.
