i've got a 2.8 sierra 4x4, which needs the following done (most of the bits i have) :-
renew both rear axle main carrier bushes
renew n/s rear coil spring
power steering (power loss): suspect power steering rack - replace & retrack
renew/ weld rear section exhaust
emissions problem (high Co2) - suspect misfire - plugs, leads, sticking valve ?
ABS lite fault ??
welding req'd :
both front footwells
o/s outter sill under door
both sills at rear backing areas
rear o/s outer drive shaft cv boot
" " front wheel bearing

how easy / quick do u think i could have it done bearing in mind a few things
1. female
2. skint
& 3. practical knowledge limited altho' improving

renew n/s rear coil spring aprox Ł45 for spring
power steering (power loss): suspect power steering rack - replace & retrack Exchange rack IIRC Ł160 Ł70 fitting track Ł25
renew/ weld rear section exhaust Ł20 +parts
emissions problem (high Co2) - suspect misfire - plugs, leads, sticking valve ? HC's would be high with those probably simple adjustment
ABS lite fault ?? sensor? expensive new Ł90ish?
welding req'd :
both front footwells
o/s outter sill under door
both sills at rear backing areas Ł160ish for the lot
rear o/s outer drive shaft cv boot Ł75
" " front wheel bearing Ł60 +parts

all prices are guesstimates and should not be relied on.

not wanting to sound like a wanker, but is it worth it? even if you are DIYing it there is a fair bit of ŁŁŁ that need to be spent.

Good luck if you decide to go for it though.

emissions problem (high Co2) - suspect misfire - plugs, leads (CHANGED & ROTA-ARM), sticking valve ?
rear o/s outer drive shaft cv boot - GOT (I THINK)

JUST THE WELDING THAT WOOD STING ME xx

 

for the price of one with an mot i dont think its worth doing to be honist

you can find good 4x4's cheep


got my one fr Ł50 had to get calipers for it to pass an mot tho but its solid
