Well, the drivetrain goes in, Martin has proved that, and it would be simpler to keep the skyline engine attached to it than a YB

The issue you would have though I suspect is clearance at the front, unless you could get the box to sit back further than martin has so you dont end up with the front 2 pots RIGHT forward.

Obviously you would need to move the front diff further from the box in order to do this, and hence on a longer front prop etc.

Hadland would be the ideal person to talk to providing you had a sensible budget for it I reckon

what do you want to know

i measured one up for the sierra and it will just fit fit major mods though

still keeping the sierra rear beam, juts using the skyline engine box front diff

modded front shafts to keep sierra hubs and abs

but ended up sticking to cosworth as at least i know it fits

Are the skyline and cossie rear diffs the same ratio then?

what about transferring it to rwd only (gtst box), that would solve a few probs wouldn't it?

Ive never heard of it being done, and TBH Im not really sure why you would want to remove a skyline engine from such a superb chassis, and install it in a ford sierra, id sooner leave it where it was, lol

Absolutely, would be FAR easier then.

Im just not sure what the point in putting so much extra weight in is, when you can get silly power out the YB anyway.

There was a spaceframed focus with a GTR engine in it, I know its not exactly a Ford shell but still

What car you going on about anyway.. theres load to choose from, and loads of work from each shell, some easier, some harder...

a similar reason why you would install an engine in the rear of a car where the shopping should go

Chip-3Door

no carnt remember what they use but i know you can get the same diff ratio ina ford fitment, think it was a 4.44
or something stupid

i wanted to keep my engine cradle and powersteering system as i wanted to use for hubs to save more stress lol

so the engine would have had to been chassis mounted and cradle modified to allow sump clearence etc

modify the tunnel for the skyline box etc and hybrid rear propshaft made

the engine would sit just under the slam panel if i remember rite or very close to it, so you would have to have an intercooler made to fit like a skyline not a sierra , could use the sierra rad i think aswell and fans once the viscous has gone of the gtr lump

it could be done if you know what your doing and would certainlly be different and reliable

Fuck putting a GTR engine in, much better engines to use if you gonna go to that effort/money, 2JZ for a start.

And thats coming from someone with a GTR engine in a Toyota, me!

im sure you carnt chip a skyline a ecu lol

will have to ask my mate as i know he had to buy upgraded ecu to run his power

but yes you could get around 450 i think with simple mods, 500 would need a headgasket and uprated items not just a chip

your mates got his pants pulled down like the rest of em then.

you can live map a R32GTR ECU and can chip em all.

and stock head gasket and internals can take well over 500bhp when mapped right.

duno mate

alls i know is the car is quick

sure he bought an upgraded ecu, but the amount of work thats been to it is just endless

the turbo he just fitted hes had to modify the inner wing to fit boost pipes and modify the rocker covers and strut top to get the thing to fit

thought he was running 500, not 1000+ course he would need a different ECU

Even keith cowie hasnt needed to do what youve described and he got 1200bhp+

the engine he got the car out of ran 10sec qtr so far

id imagine he will want more power out of it

you can't polish a turd - and trying to make a ford go faster by putting in a better engine is just putting a flag in it

But c'mon! Seriously, why would you bother? for the money involved you might aswell buy a Skybus in the first place! As said it'd look, handle and go better!

yep so a quick chip to 500bhp then as much money and far more effort to install the bloody thing in a sierra as just tuning the yb in the first place,hmmm.....random!
