Default S2 to S1 Gearbox end casing swap?

How complicated is it?

Needing the Mk3 style mount.....
Is it easy enough to just unbolt the end casing and swap over that part, or is it a bit more involved than this?

It's not that hard to do the hardest part is getting the 5th gear off so you can take the middle casing off you will need a gear puller to get that off so if you anit got one id get one or you will have a hell of a job trying to get it off theres a post in the Technical essay Archives about how to rebuild a gearbox that may help you out

shit

So it's not just like you can unbolt the end part case of one box and swap it over with another one?
Didn't think dealing with gears would be nessesary.... just wanna get the right end casing/bolt pattern for a MK3

So 5th gear is actually attached to the end casing, not just covered by it?

It's not attached but you cant take the casings apart unless you take 5th off

This is a more detailed look at how to take it apart

Nice one Wullie!
May well be in touch about that.....

Not entirely sure what gearbox route I'll be taking yet but one option I've got would require having to convert a S2 box to S1 style.

Cheers Wullie
I'm getting a 1900 CVH sorted just now... 300BHP at the fly is the figure that's being aimed for....
The hardest bit will most likely be finding a strong and cost effective gearbox solution.....

MTX is tempting and I may still go that way, but would rather keep this shell original as it's a good 'un... and we all know how hard they are to come by these days...
