powdercoating polished alloy
as my engine is out im thinking of having all my polsihed stuff powdercaoted a sensible colour as trying to keep them shiney is a pain in the arse
i dont want them blasted as they are important tanks and bits and bobs, so can ior would i get away with keying them up for the powdercaot to stick?
what about turbo heatshields, would it be wise to have this done and then get some heat insulation to apply on the inside like it has now?
anyone got any ics of engine bays with different coloured tanks etc?
i want it to look clean but look good aswell
or shall i go for something different and have half powdercaot and the rst polished

im not keen on blasting the tanks as i may not get all the stuff out
this is how my bay looked before ripping it apart

as you can about the heatsheild as this wouldnt look rite unless it all matched

Black tanks above, looked ok.
Then I did them silver:

Looked better in shiny silver IMHO.
And here's the pile of bits I did:

Made a big mistake doing this - this was "special" high temp stuff - melted/ burnt right off in minutes. Stank. Left a dusty mess on everything in the bay

I air blasted my tanks, then rinsed a few times over with water to get all the grit out. Just check carefully afterwards and you should be fine. I had no problems in that respect, but was very careful.

so you think i should just leave them shiney then
my heatshield has some sort of insulation inside it at the mo anyhow and if i was going to get them done then ill re insulate it

Ask your powder coater geezer for advice.
Mine advice based on experience is the Heat shield won't work... it may, but I doubt it and that would ruin it.
Carbon heat shield is a good idea too!
