Whilst having a conversation with a mate of mine earlier about air injectors it seems I haven't quite understood what I was originally told about them.
I was under the impression that one thing you could gain was faster response from the turbo.
I've just read Stu's article on it but it doesn't really go that deeply into it.
What exactly is the advantages from using them ?

They are just used as a method of controlling the turbo's wastegate, pressure usually goes from the compressor to the actuator direct/though an amal valve.
All air injectors do is allow fine control of the pressure getting to the wastegate actuator, allowing you to really control/map your boost.

I think tiredness is a key factor here
After just having another read I can see the gains to be had when setting the boost, I was under the impression that there was gains to be had getting the turbo onto boost but when thinking about it there is no other way of doing that than changing the turbo housings (or anti lag etc..)

the wastegate actuator wont creap with a bleed on system (air to air) so the wastegate is bypassing any air, so the turbine housing gets it the exhaust flow through it
with a bleed off system (amal) the wastegate can start to creep as pressure in building in the compressor site, slightly lifting the wastegate, slightly reducing the amount of flow which is flowing through the turbine housing

problem that's always struck me with air injectors is that surely, they don't fail safe.... i.e. in the event of failure the boost goes sky high with the inevitable problems that can cause...
That is true but tbh it happens rarely and I suppose if you know your car well enough you will catch it before it blows itself to bits.
I am starting to swing towards using AVCR though for the in gear boost control
