Default Ghetto fabulous V6 Ka

I decided to try and fit a V6 into a Ka, the Ford lump was way too big but this Vauxhall 2.5 v6 is quite compact, it's being done on a budget of peanuts and selling what crap I have lieing around.

I already had the Ka with coilovers, 4-pots, rear discs, cage etc. just needed a motor

I've sent the engine mount mock ups off to be made out of plate, I'm hoping to have it all mounted and running in the next few weeks

Engine shots...

Yeah, I thought the same, I'm only really doing it for a laugh and to build something to learn, I've a few plans for when it's built but I'm not at that point yet

Talking of noise, I've got an exhaust cut-out for it, it's an electric operated valve to dump the exhaust out, I'll put it before the CAT

LMAO!! what a gadget!

wont that lose exhaust pressure?

or is it purely for the sound factor when revving at the lights? lol

It's for noise and cat bypass, it won't be used at the lights!

drove a vectra with one of these in at work today, went quite well so this should be a good laugh, forget handling, its worth the time and effort for comedy value.

im guessing your having a big bulge on the bonnet?

Cool project.

The Saab turbo will fit on the front if you have enough space left

That's stage 2 chip

I'll get the whole saab 3.0 v6 turbo motor for a few of reasons

I hand canned the plenums and inlet manifold matt black but I bloody dropped the front plenum so I'll hand can it again in the week, no rubbing down, this is ghetto fabulous

I've had the new power steering hose made up this week, not much progress but progress none the less

Plans for next week:
Wire in clocks from newer Ka (it has an electric speedo)
Get the throttle cable made (Vaux use different ends)
Seperate the box to see if I need a new clutch (and get one if necessary)
Check on the progress on the fabrication of the mounts
Make craddle for radiator and S2 escort intercooler
Put the interior back in

I'll turbo it in time, I need to get the thing in and running first. I already had the turbo and ECU so it'd be rude not too

TBH, I didn't think about the VR6, just looking on ebay they don't look compact enough to fit in the ka but I'll certainly bare it in mind if I do another one

nice project Shonky

Chip,

I thought the V6 was too unreliable to turbo charge? I know Saab did it, but they lost a fair amount of torque, and didnt gain too much in power?

Isnt there 2.8 V6 turbo 250bhp and 250lbft+ of torque?

I cant see how its POSSIBLE to lose torque going from n/a to turbo on any engine, the v.e. of a turbo car is always miles better.

yea there is a 2.8, but the 3.0 as found in the Omega had 207bhp and 199 lbft, this was then put in the Saab and turbo charged.

I got it wrong way round tho It lost bhp (down to 197bhp) and torque rose to 229lbft.
