Default M1 north accident this morning

At junction 23A big tyre lorry gone into the bridge, looked horific and Id be very surprised if the guy made it, there was at least 15 firemen/paramedics all over it trying to get him out
Anyway, whilst queing for it a black range rover sport comes flying up the hard shoulder with blue lights on top with the reg "999 DAD". Just had the plate valued and it comes in at £3000. Now im not one to deny the police of any money to go about catching real criminals like those with fog lights on etc. but how on earth do they justify a 3k plate??? For what purpose does that help in the fight against crime?
On a similar note the police who drive the subaru in north yorkshire are a sound pair, I was pushing a bit too far past 70mph at 4am the other morning and they came along side, looked at me, pulled in front and slowed me down to a respectable speed. After a mile they indicated off and gave a quick cycle of the blue lights

Maybe it's one of the vehicles they've confiscated. A few, if not all, police forces use confiscated cars instead of taking them to auction or crushing them when they've been seized.

No police force would purchase a private plate and face the wrath of the public.

Suprisingly nice of them

How could the other coppers possibly justify the plate though!

maby they have it to try and not stand out as much. I mean if that car was up your arse your not going to think oh undercover cop are you, more than likely your going to put your foot down and leave him standing til he blue lights you. And if the police did buy it i suspect they did not pay the true value for it.

Correct it is a personal car of a Doctor as he lives in the same village as me in leicester. He also had a W12 phaeton before the Range

We have a brand spanker range rover here in Windsor, all they do is patrol the town all day I think, Queens security or something.

Never seen them pull anyone over or do anything other than grab their brekkie at 5am at BP...

Should have tried the 3 Merc pursuit cars and the 2 Range Rover Sports accompanying a prisoner from The Old Bailey to Belmarsh this evening on my way home from work. I worked out the price of all that lot, almost a cool 1/4 million. And people say the police don't spend money. Granted, the Mercs are prob. SO19 and need to get places quick, but the 2 Range Rover Sports

A lot of Police and Fire brigades have registrations from years ago - North Yorks Chief Constable is AJ1 on a Volvo S80, many are 999 related plates too, Cleveland Fire have DDC1 on an hydraulic platform too, or it could be his own plate on a personal police car if he was high ranking.

lol this post is so funny

I work for South Central Ambulance Service and the Range Rover in question is a officer for ourselves the plate was brought as a present from his family.
As it was a big accident they need an officer on scene to co-ordinate our ambulances and be the 'leader'.
It is a very nice Range Rover Sport with that plate it does look very smart.
Oh and yes doctors do have green lights as mentioned.
Hope this clears stuff up for ya
