FAO MikeR- Flamer kit wires- what to where? UPDATE! Mike!
Yeahyeah, they gay, but ive just had a hunt around the house and found FOUR, yes FOUR of them
1st one is a MikeR original that I had on my Cossie, it has 4 wires.
White, Brown, Yellow, Blue.
What goes where?
Others have 5 wires tho and are all brand new, fuck knows about them, anyone know? Im guessing they them gay ones that cut the ignition or summat?

And on that note, its NOT going on the Chaser, honest
And frankly its far lower on the gay scale than the other thing I got for it the other day that I dont care to mention either
Anyhow, MikeR etc- what wire goes where?!

Unsure what the five wire ones do,could well be like you think, ign cut

going by wire lengths i reckon white is power, brown makes sense to be earth, and the other 2 goes to the coil, which way round i dont know tho.
well, dunno if it matters?

Mine is as follows
Blue .. Negative ground
Red ..To ignition positve
Yellow... To coil negative
Thinner Red.... To coil positive
Slightly different colours, but may help you.Regards,Micky

Maybe i can guess, im pretty sure I know the 2, just the coil ones I dont.
Will anything bad happen if i put coil ones wrong way round? As if all that happens is stuff dont work, its fine.
This sounds like an old one so the colours are not what we use now...
Can they test for continuity between white and yellow - should be short circuit?
If so then colours are as follows
Brown - Ground
Blue - Coil +
Yellow - Coil -
White - 12 v via 5a fuse and switch

If you have got a multimeter put it onto the diode testing mode (continuity), and put one multimeter wire on the white and one on the yellow. If the multimeter bleeps or shows a reading very close to zero then they should be as Mike has said
To check multimeter is in the right mode, put the two wires together and if it bleeps/reads near to zero then it is
Well as nobody had a multimeter handy
I just got a car battery and picked a wire at random, hey, its 50-50 innit
It worked!
But my curiosity got the better of me so I swapped the wires around
It still worked!
BUT the noises the sparkplug makes are different depending on which wire goes to pos, and which to neg
One way its a high pitched "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" noise, other way it sounds like bad TV radio interferance/static. Spark looks thinner but more constant and stronger on the "eeeeeeeeeeeee", and the sparks much wider but almost see-thru on the interferance/static noise way.
Which way is right? Im guessing "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" as im sure its what it used to do on the Cossie

Radders, ive NO fucking idea about yours
Live to battery.
Earth to ground/battery.
Positive coil connector.
Negative coil connector.
Not sure why theres a 5th one, my guess is its some kind of ign cut switch or summat that can be grounded on a switch if you wanna use it, so prob dont need it.
Its time to randomly guess what colour is what wire I think mate, like I did mine
Hey, it was free

My advice is use a battery to test it on thats not in your pride and joy, or at least have a fire extinguisher handy
I tested on the mondeos battery, it didnt go near the chaser till i was sure nowt would explode

Just found this... Whats the 10amp fuse for?
This Kit contains the following:
Full fitting instructions. Ignition coil control box
Ignition coil. Spark plug.
Ignition lead. Arming switch with 4meters of cable.
Fuse holder. Spark plug fixing boss.
Rubber grommet. Fixing screws.
Cable ties. 10amp Fuse + Holder

Rad - I used to get nice flames from mine when I was running a bar of boost and they weren't small ones either! But I'm sure the addition of the kit will improve flames

Mike,
Do you know how to/have a circuit board layout with a component list of how to make the control boxes?
I'd assume it's just some sort of beefed up 555 timer circuit or something?
