Car Polish
Is there a noticable difference between the makes?
After just buying this 3dr i want to get some good proper car polishing stuff to look after the car and make it look its best.
Is there big difference in the finish between stuff like auto-glym, meguiers, poorboys, etc etc, or is it just people think there is to justify the cost? obviously i know the ingredients are to justify the costs.
Cheers

To answer your first question, yes
However every polish usually has its way of being applied and that is sometimes why some products get a bad name.
After spending 6 years valeting I feel I know how to clean a car well, I have never used this Poorboys polish or meguairs, I do feel both don't offer anymore than a lot of the products my supplier sold me (except they come in small bottles at a large cost)
It would seem though that you Do get the results using these polishes and I have seen it myself so maybe they are the ones for you too use as you hardly need everything in 5 litre containers

Morrisons, pah, thats proper extravagent, Aldi's own rocks, comes with a free whipet and flat cap as well
I sont bother with Autoglym anymore cause I got sick of the white residue it leaves whihc doesnt come off easy if you get in on plastic trim, some of the poorboys and clearkote stuff is ace, infact the clearkote moose glaze will do everything, paint, glass, plastics, top stuff

Is that really the case?
I can imagine alot of what u say james is right, i.e its about the prep and how its applied.
Same as paint really.
But is there any benefits to the expenses stuff or is it purely a bragging factor?
Martin, i only it though, why would i pay someone else to enjoy something i enjoy doing, bit like sex

The white residue used to piss me off.
I now use a mixture of of stuff, but always seem to finish with Clear Kote, no mess, easy to use and the finish is just great!
Whilst i can see that some of it might be down to snake oil, i genuinely believe that the poorboys, zaino, clear kotes etc do a better job than auto glymn etc.
ive always used autoglym and never had aproblem until my last 2 bottles
everytime i take the polish off the car would have white dust everywhere on it ad it wont shift even driving down the road it can stay on there for days
im goingto try some of this poor boys stiff next as this seems to be the most popular choice lately

Auto Glym is known to be a "dusty", a bit of silicone on a nice cloth will soon bring all that off though.
Ofcourse don't go using silicone if its just about to go to the paintshop
I used a range of polishes from Nielsons, my agent has now actually started up on his own using all types of polishes are treatments, I'll hopefully grab a few samples off him next time I see him.
Claybar is good but tbh not needed on something like Ryans IMO if its as well looked after as described.
I've cleaned everything from Cavaliers, Ferraris, R34 GTR at the Motor Show and nearly all the new Ford Fiestas when Ford done the uk wide demos.
Strangely enough I would rather pay someone to clean my car after doing it for 6yrs but there is nothing nicer than turning a shitbox into a mintbox

I use Poorboys EX-P and Collinite No 845 on my saph.
I used to get Auto Glym free but when that stopped i decided to try something different to see if there was any difference. I can certainly see the difference over Auto Glym, it gives a much deeper shine and last alot longer aswell. Water still beads off after a 2-3 weeks if cars been sat outside.
I got mine through Gaz off RSOC bb and i am really happy with it.

Fair comment mate.
I never used Auto Glym when I was in business as it was simply too expensive trade or not.
It does work well though but there are plenty of other products that match its quality
