silly question but was reading a thread yesterday on here bout .55 housings and that they r just a .48 but machined out??so do the have .48 on then still or is .55 stamped on them

 

The original rally 'cheat' .55 exhaust housing had .63 on the casting, as it was the .63 A/R turbo that was homologated.

 

"real" ford motorsport cheating bastard .55 housings are stamped .63, as was done to cheat in rallying, as they had to run the stock .63 housing due to homologation rules, but was a bit big n laggy so did a sly one and made .55 a/r housings that externally look identical to the .63s.

Turbo Technics manufactured .55 housings, I would *guess* they have .55 on them, as there's no need for any underhand tactics.

mine has .55 on it

 

u can buy my one if u like when i get a .55 one its only done around 200 miles max

 

HINT.................

 

If buying secondhand, I'd want some sort of proof it was a modified 'std' housing.

Might be best phoning TT or CR Turbos etc. asking what they do etc. although I'm sure in the case of TT they actually made/cast a .55 housing (as in not a modified 'other' a/r housing)

 

where the best place to get a .55 housing as i have sort of heard they r quite hard to get,does G.B turbo solutions do them

Turbo Technics mate, Not sure on the price tho, i have one on mine and its better than my old .48 not sure what the difference is on the .63 but its supposed to be the middle of the road on the two
