Default Please help - need a bright idea.....

Serious topic please peoples - keep it that way.

I've been having real problems with my cat for most of this year, and he keeps pee'ing in the house. I've tried everything - pheromone plug-ins, chill pills from the vet, quiet room, keeping him inside so he doesn't get stressed etc. The problem is there are loads and loads of cats round here and Buster (my cat) is afraid of his own shadow and won't stand up for himself.

I woke up to loads more piss and another carpet ruined this morning, and that's all I can take. The only option that I can see now is to re-home him which I don't want to do. I love the little fella to bits and if I have to let him go I'll be in absolute tatters. Hence why I need some sensible bright ideas.

I'm open to anything sensible guys.

the only thing i would suggest is maybe to put him in one of those big dog cages with a bed and litter tray but only when you are not there.

But then again it seems unfair really to cage a cat....i know its hard mate but a rehome maybe the only option

TBH that's the only option as I see it, but he'll then have to live in that permanently. Whether I'm here or not he pee's.

I'd suggest a crate as well.

My mutt learnt his training in one although he did have a tendency to shit in his food bowls for a while .....Not sure what that was about It did work and he still has it because even though hes nearly a year old the feisty little shit likes to move everything around in the lounge when no-ones around

Its worth a go and if you want a cheap one then my other half will have hers for sale (using it for the kittens at the mo until there all sold) in the next week. Got to be a better idea than re-homing him

It's deffo him, and not some other cat getting in? You got a catflap? If another cat gets in, your cat will start spraying all over the house, to mark his turf.

Also, did you house train him to start with, or was he already trained when you got him?

He was 4 when I got him, he's about 9 now and so was fully house trained. He was spot on for the first say 2.5 years but had problems since then, been really bad this year. No other cats mate, the catflap has been locked shut for 6 months and I've watched him squat and pee myself.
