Default Which way round are discs meant to go?

As above, it always seems to be the opposite to what I think

The discs are grooved and vented.

The fronts are the opposite to what I think but I don't know if the grooves and vents go in the same direction as eachother on those if you see what I mean

So any quick way to tell?

The straight grooved on the older type APs used to face forward... the newer ones with the curved grooves face backwards.

Ah, didnt realise it was the shape of the groove that made the difference.

Any idea why?

i dont think the direction of the grooves is that important its the vanes on the inside of the disk that matter

It is the direction of the vanes that are more important, but some people changing from the older type AP forward facing grooves, assumed the curved grooves faced the same way.... not so

Thats correct its to pull the air through the disk. If the grooves are the wrong way round it will just make more noise (so I read a long time ago).

Thats the point it does not matter which way they go if straight vaned as most are, they still present a sharp edge to the pad to deglaze.

So are they meant to when moving forward look as if they'd take air in or not?

Possibly not looking at the AP picture!
