Default bleeding brakes and.................. help!

for some reason when i was bleeding my brakes the fluid was seeping out of the bit where the nipple screws into the caliper!!!!!! (was also coming out of nipple where its supposed to)

why?

i dont get it, surely this is wrong, its never happened before and if it was tight enough to not leek there i couldnt bleed it as the nipple was letting no fluid out unless it was loosened more and then it seeped out of the back again..................... any sugestions?

open nipple, squeeze brake, close nipple, release brake... repeat until most of the air is out, then pump up the pedal and push down onto it, then release the pressure to get the last bits of air out! then that brake should be bled!!! hth

seeping out round the threads?
Perfectly normal, the threads aren't sealed when the nipple is open, so fluid can get up there - is the drilling up the middle of the nipple blocked with crap maybe, so it's not allowing fluid up the easy way?

i know how to bleed it. and i have a system with a 1 way valve. so no need with the open close thing. i just want to know why it was leeking from behind the nipple on the threaded part that screws into the caliper.

no it was coming out of the nipple perfectly normal, but was seeping from the threaded bit too. this was on both sides aswell not just one. so it confused me. i was just worrying that bleeding would be pointless as air might get in through there.

it will be fine if you close the nipple whilst there is any risk of air getting sucked back. Whilst fluid is coming out, air won't be going in

You may be loosening them a touch too much 1/4 turn is plenty, but as said if they leak up the threads this is normal anyway, as brake fluid very thin.
I use a gunson's eezibleed works well for me.
