Its approximately 1 year now since PassionFord began its "Gold Member" scheme as a way of funding its own existence via you, the members.

As you may be aware, the start of this scheme and its subsequent contributions from you all allowed us to fund and run Passionford using a 20mbps dedicated line and its this support from yourselves that have resulted in 1 years virtually trouble free and very fast performance from your favourite web forum

But that was 12months ago.... and technology moves on....

Last week, Petrucci ordered a 100 MBPs synchronous Turbo DSL line for the server, replacing the 20 Mbps one we had so far (which was already state of the art and amongst the fastest in the world)

Yesterday, he received the new settings for the 100 mbps line, so decided to swap PF lines on Saturday night, as he couldn't wait any longer for his new Toy as sat night is usually the least busy period. That was the downtime experienced last night and also slightly this morning.

Petrucci and I are confident that the gold membership will continue to grow along with the trade membership to keep things flowing as well as they have been so far. Hopefully the new Paypal scheme will keep the bills from Petrucci's door

All you need to know really is PassionFord can handle 5times as much traffic as ever before and as a result it should feel marginally faster too..

We now run what is the fastest in the whole world. 20 MBps was already VERY RARE and very fast, a few sites had this, but now, we are running 100 MBps, and you have to know that the sites running this are very very few in the whole world.

Basically, with what i installed yesterday night, you should feel PF is even faster than before now, and this is to celebrate the 1 year of contribution.

How do we know when our gold membership is for renewal

 

The only real way is to check your invoice for a date. The early memberships had no automation but Pet is working on that system now...

If you recall being one of the first to contribute, then you will find that was almost 1year ago this week. And thank you again for that contribution
