Default Drilling holes in glass

Hi lads,can any one tell me if its possible to drill holes in glass without it breaking or cracking???Im thinking of drilling 8mm - 10mm diameter holes.Regards Micky

dont think its possible with toughened glass mate (side windows)

im prob wrong and would like to know if i am

i want opening rear windows in my xr2

You will be needing a glass cutting diamond core drill.

Keep plenty of oil/water on it, you should be good!

Diamond tipped drill. Dont go through with a 8-10mm drill first you need a pilot hole...say 4mm

cool, think ill get some series 1 huinges and drill some xr2 1/4 glass

ill wear goggles

do u think a glass company would do it for me??

i think you will have problems getting anyone to drill holes in toughened glass m8, as it will generally end being a very difficult jigsaw plate and laminated glass though is easy

How did ford do the Rear openers then? Im sure they would have been drilled?

possibly drilled before being tempered m8 they may have been drilled after but i doubt it even with proper glass cutting drills i have only managed one hole in toughened glass and believe me ive tried and it was fookin slow and boring

something to do with heating and cooling it in a specific way i think, similar to the way they harden steel etc
