well after buying Martrs old purple rs turbo a few months back,



I had a bit of a misshap with the car an injector seal split and leaked fuel over the exhaust causing the front end of the car to be badly damaged
so i set out to find a donor car for its runnig gear


I picked this 1988 black cabriolet up for £600 ang have stared buying bits to build it up into a turbo cab heres a few pics of the engine so far,






Since the engine was out of the purple rs ive repalce every gasket and change the cam for a newman cam wtih solid lifters

ENGINE SPEC
1.9 cvh 1800cc crank low comp pistons
stage 3 jamsort heat with huge ports
Newman cam
efi polished inlet dark greens
l6 cosworth ecu ect,

think ive got some pics some where ill dig them out it burnt the bonnet pretty bad and part of the front bumper and most of the hoses and stuff under the bonnet

Car looks nice but thats a 1.6 cvh engine

yer its a 1600 cvh block with a 1800 crank and sum low comp audi pistons which makes it a 1900, something like that anyway. lookin good tho mate!

 

holy shit i was seriously considering buying that rs as well ...just a bit off bad luck i s'posse still feel gutted for you mate..ach well on wards and upwards as they say

Bit of an update,

Afew pics of the brakes im going to be running which are AP 4 pots
with 335mm discs i will be running a rear cosworth brake setup aswell

Also pics of my burnt rocker cover of the puple rs lol

As for the engine managment its going to be running l6 cosworth on green injectors 3 bar ect

hopfully going to get the cabriolet off to the bodyshop as soon as can't decide on a colour tho yet

Going to be runnig a 4x4 cosworth turbo and exhaust housing hopefull at about 20 psi depending on the fueling!!!

finally got the engine out of the cab this week

Ordered a group a coil an some manifold studs and spent
Most of the week making things for the car

I painted up the AP calipers in shiny gloss black!
as they were looking a bit worse for where lol

Ive made a pod for my water temp gauge and ACT gauge all

The cab is totally stripped down and ready for paint
just waiting on abonnet and spoiler for it

Thinking of smoothing the bumpers any commetns welcome!!!

Bit of a small update on the cab,

Polished the inlet up with a dremell today looks

Also repaired my l6 cosworth loom after the fire damage! took
me 2 hours!!!!

Then spent the rest of the day choping out the old alarm
and engine loom out of the cab what a mess
and gave my master cylinder a quick paint!!


Been on eBay aswell spending money i havn't got lol got some black vac hose ond black breather hoses

Well after a few months of no progress with the cab

Its finally at the body shop

The shell is beeing fully stripped down a restored

Im having it fully delocked turbo bonnet and arches fiited
2 new front wings fitted and replaced both doors with some solid ones lol

after weeks of searching i managed to get hold of a genuine rs spolier
for just £20

As for the colour its beeing painted in ford panther black

got some pics of it will get more as soon as its poss lol

I agree with AJC doing it in flint grey, as you couldnt get the cabs in that colour! Would look
