Got a whole shift done on the car today and some help off Andy which made it even better.
first off was to cut the rot out of the inner arch-

The car used to be LHD and has had the bulkhead changed but the way it was done on the passenger side
created a water trap so cut out the crap.
Back on with more stitch welding. Plated the handbrake aperture, crush plates on the floor and a few
of the drain points.

Trimmed the bulkhead down so the cage can go onto the turrets. The sealer & paint was removed from the
inner wings so that all the fixing holes can be welded up , theres tons of the things !
How it used to look -

and after some cutting and grinding -

That was plenty for today, tomorrow we will get on with trying to fit this little lot

Got the rear of the cage in place on Sunday after lots of head scratching and trying to figure out what went where even though it was all labelled. Some of the labels were wrong either or we've fucked up, sorry I mean Andy has fucked up, im not taking any blame !!

Finished welding the rear half in and got most of the front half tacked into place tonight.
Shitty dark pictures as it was getting late, put the last few bits in place by torchlight.

David,
That looks very tidy pal....you'll have to peel the roof off though to get to the top side of the cross in the roof....
Seriuosly you wont believe how rigid the car will become once the work on the shell and cage is done.....

Thanks for the comments
Smitsturbo Ive got most of the running gear from my old saff that I broke and also plenty of other bits that I had bought for the RWD mk3 I had, just suspension and some other odds & sods to pick up as I go.
Alan Ive welded up the front ones on the floorpans but not doing the rest, will just cover them with something. Not sure what yet though.
Ian Its only got a single diagnol over the roof so I can get that all the way round hopefully ! not sure on the windscreen bar though, couldnt get any closer even if the roof was off. I'll find a way to get the torch in somehow

Oh and as for the dark pics.........get a wee generator bought ye tight git!!!!
Welded up the front half of the cage during the week, just the door bar, roof diagnol and front strut triangulations left to go on and thats it for the cage.
If i never see another roll cage in my life I'll be a happy man !!!
Today I cut the drivers side iner arch out in the same place that the pass side was soft. Welded in some fresh metal and welded a plate behind the fins that are in the inner wings, should stop the crap getting under the bonnet.

Not really an update but it now has its own house so I can work on it out of the garage.
