knocking noises from rear of mondeo tdci

Can anyone help please, my mondeo has a knocking noise from the rear of the car-sounds like suspension bushes but can't find any faults-any other places to look

esate or saloon??

check roll bar hasnt shifted across so the link rod is touching the strut.
subframe bushes on a saloon??

Roll bar bushes are favourites.

check the rear subframe bushes, the big main ones. ford fit stacks of subframes as the bushes fall out.

Subframe issues are common on Mk3s.
