XR2 info required
I wonder if you could answer the following:-
Are front wings welded on or bolted
Where are the main rust areas/which are difficult to repair
And what sort of price would i need to pay for a decent one. It will be on the track/raced so wont be a minter.
thanks

Pretty much everything rusts on an XR2. Worst bits to look out for are the boot floor, everywhere around the leading edge of the rear arch, front panel, front inner wings, etc
All of these would be a major fail for an MOT, so not worth risking it for the track. The bodykit hides a load of probs, and along with the fact that the (usually present
) sunroof drainholes, feed into the (usually blocked
) sills, thus rendering them rustier than a rusty thing from....
However, there does appear to be a load of well looked after XR's out there. Just look very carefully. Ł500-700 should get you an MOT'd car. Ł1000-1500 a solid one.
Parts are very cheap, engines are available at almost giveaway prices, so I'd go for a solid base model, Popular etc, Ł400, and get a rusty XR2, with no metal left under the kit, Ł100, and just swap everything over. Hey presto, loads of trackfun. Oh and the wings are welded.

hey thanks jonboy, good info there.
I'll need to get xr2 though as I am hoping to join the xr challenge at some point
I can weld and fiddle with engines well enough but dont want resto project before i start, so i best look for one over 1k then.
Cheers

Get yourself over there fella, a few regulars race, and one JasonXR2racer is in the XR Challenge at the moment.
