Default 11 Grand RST anyone?

Just spotted this while digging through auto trader.

4,400 miles from new! Sure looks mint! Wonder if it will sell at that price?

Depends - cheaper to buy that than rebuilding another one to that spec with new bits (even if you can find them)

Is it really? It does look a nice car and probably one of in not THE best one available. I certainly wouldnt want to spend £11k on an RST, although im sure some will, just like we'd pay double for a mint escos.

I agree. I wouldn't pay that for a S2, but then the equivilent Escort Cosworth would be £25k. And I wouldn't pay that for one of those either.

Cool find, im sure someone will buy it for that money, wouldnt do myself, but can understand why someone might just for the novelty value of its time capsule like appearance.

do peeps think tis realy over valued, the fact is its all OEM its like going into a ford showroom and saying can i have a new 1990 rst the only shame is as soon as you start to drive it and put a few miles on it its value will vastley go down, at the end of the day it comes down to what some one will pay..

you mean its like saying, "can i have a new 1990 rst, with 17 year old bushes that no doubt all need replacing as they have corroded" etc etc

Personally, I think it's a smashing looking little car.

But I can think of a few things I'd rather spand 11 grand on

And as chip said, it's an ornament. All the belts, bushes etc will be perished after being parked for 17 years. So, it would handle as well as all the other RSTs I suppose

I wonder what the insurance agreed valuation would be on it?

I cant imagine for a minute that any insurance company would agree with any buyers of this car that its worth 11k???

I bet it wouldnt last 5 minutes on the road before ejecting all its vital fluids out through failing hoses/seals etc etc.

As much as i like S2's (i'm on my second) any more than 5k for one is madness...

As regards perished bushes/hoses/seals etc, that all depends on how well its been stored. If it been stored properly then they should be fine. Saying that, id still want to change the cambelt for piece of mind.

This car was at the Central RS Show this year and is as new as it would've been in 1991. The condition it was bought in and most likely stored shows its been really really looked after. So i doubt it very much the bushes/alternator etc are gone....

I spoke to the chap and he was saying its been valued by the RSOC iirc. To the right person its worth that all day long personally i wouldnt pay that much

it is mint, i bought mine for £4000 on 62,000 miles everything original, had been sitting in a garage for 10 years, i didnt have it more than 2 days, and had to get a new fuel metering unit, as the petrol had turned like jelly.... cost me a good £300 to get it fixed, ok its not a big sum to pay for a car in such good condition like this black one featured, but after spending £11000 annoy ya a bit wouldnt it
