Cant say it was my best ford fair ever...... but i do have a good reason for that lol.

First off, postal strike ment I only received my car passes to get in yesturday. Was told on the phone (sorry PROMISED!) they would be availabe for me on the gate but shock horror no passes for me there! So with my breifing session on track at 8:40 running to and from the brooklands suite was not my idea of a good start to the day. Then to be told that at 8:41 I was too late to get into the briefing and had to re-arrange my first track session.........

Anyway that was the least of my worries............

My dad had a acciendent in the paddock area around lunch time and was taken to Northampton Hospital around 5pm and was due to have an op this morning on his leg.

Prior to this we both had a good time on track depsite being put in the novice sessions where

Didn't get to see any of the show / stands but never mind!

The show was alright i suppose...

I went mainly for the traders as i was after some bits, some of which i got...

Track action i'm sure was excellent as there were some great cars there, but unfortunately the spectating at Silvestone is crap

The general appearance of the average modified Ford seems to be getting a bit tacky though... (IMO)
Some proper chav chariots on display!

Oh, and did anyone see the Ford Galaxy Owners Club?

Craking day, loved every minute of it!

Saw tons of cool cars, met up with folk, watched some quality track action (RS500 doing a 360 was entertaining! ) and bought myself some top bargains.

Can't really ask for more from a car show!

Was a bit of a freak accident.

We had our car up on blocks whilst changing wheels (as you probably know its a nightmare jacking up the front of a 205). Anyway, it was time to move the car so i let the handbrake off and the car rolled off the blocks.... what he didn't realise was that there was a large metal poll directly behind his leg, so when the car was released it pinned his leg against this bloody poll.

Funnily enough he drove the car round the track after the accident as it just came up as a bruse, but when he was watching me going round in the stand it swelled up big time (due to the drugs he has to take for his heart / kidney). Anyway, Silverstone staff were very helpful and he was swiftly taken away to Hospital late afternoon.

Porkie - was that you in the skyline then?

i didn't go planning to do anything other than have a bit of a wander about, so there were no expectations

other than not finding the pf stand there were no dissapointments at the show for me personally, the wife and kid had a great time too so thats a double bonus

the problems starting on the way home, air con packed up as soon as we left the services and that was after the mrs dropped a whole cup of tea on the back seat of the car, and then i split a bottle of juniors ilk on the same place so i can't put all the blame on her (got the vax out to try and clean it up when we got home)

Wicked day - up at 4.30 am and home at 11pm but thats another story.

I blew the turbo to bits but still had a a wicked day.

HUGE THANKS TO SIMON, NEIL, DAN @ FAST FORD FOR THE INVITE.

i agree though this could quite easliy be a two day event although i think it will kill the staff of Fast Ford. They looked mega stressed running around all day getting things sorted and trying to please who they could.

Ford Fair 08 - 2 dayer for sure!!!

I thought it was wicked, my little un's enjoyed it, was supposed to be on track at 9:20 but had to cancel due to neck injury playing footie on Friday
Track action was good, the RS200 sounded wicked on the 0-60, glad i brought packed lunch for the family tho as Ł6 for a shite burger is a pisstake.

my only problem was the state of some of the cars on the stand i was on,
top day all in all

i've heard the explanations for the food come round for a few years now, ff don't control the catering, so if you want to eat bring your own and then you won't have to complain about the prices

that is the only downer on what is normally a great day out (i think it's also been the hottest day of the year 3 years running now hasn't it? i was temps of 32 degrees in the ambient temp readout )

100% agree on that . There's too much too see in just 1 day.
A 2 day event would be great.
Doing some track time on saturday and wander round the trade stands for some parts. Then on sunday time enough to look at all the visitors an clubstand cars.
But then again, a 2 day event would cost the organisers much more.
So entry fees would be skyhigh me thinks. Still a very good idea though.
