My New, well, old car :D
well, i thought id go for something new... something with a little more power... something rwd.... and that looks nice, so here she is!
ford capri, 1987 the year i was born, so this car is 20years old this year but everything on the car looks like new.
drives like a bloody dream, power is still there after 20years, still kicks the wheels out in 1st 2nd and 3rd (as me and my cousin found out coming outta his street lol)
anyway, pics

retro wheels

^ ^ believe it or not, those are steel wheels, not alloys.... very strong

oh yea, engine is the 2.0 pinto engine at 103 bhp to 1003 kg, 100bhp per ton. not bad.
comments welcome

Nice car
had a 1.6 S 1978 T for my first car so always had a soft spot for them
As for the remark about steel wheels you are joking as they are indeed alloys
Fit some good rear shocks (spax) and good tyres it will make a hell of a difference

Its my old Capri!
sold a couple of weeks back, I recognise the slight bubble on the front wing and touch up lines of the passenger side wing and the capri club international sticker in the middle of the brand new windscreen! Bless her, Hope you enjoying her, looks like getting looked after well! Not bad for 211,000 miles

Didn't have it long enough to service it
surprised it was filthy given how well looked after the last owner kept it! Nope I never experience brake failure and we drove it from Suffolk to Castle combe (nearly as long a journey as you had home!)
hope you get to the root of the problem
Good to see you here!

we flushed all the old fluid out (god knows how old it was but it was rammy anyway) bled all the brakes one by one and it hasnt done it since, gave it a bit of a run up and down the biggest hills i could find and it hasnt happened since, even trying to get the brakes as hot as i could.
ah well, heres a quick peek of the engine bay after i got my hands on it a few times too many

airbox is going
mint car to play with though!
4-2-1 manifold coming
new head-in the making

Brake fluid is borked after a good old boilup anyhoo so it was a good idea to change it
make sure the rear shoes are properly adjusted, they don't do much actuall braking but they pretty much dictate the balence of the system, if the rears are unadjusted the fronts will be doing all the work and overheat/ unsettle the car ect
It looks a real nice base to "personalise" you have there
in fact nice as it is as well

only thing that annoys me is the amount of crap pipes that arent nesecarily needed that are just hanging around in the engine bay, and that damn heater hose, whats that all about!??
outside is staying bog standard, its a beautiful car yes, doesnt deserve to be molestered.
but its also a good starting point to me learning how to tune engines, what does what etc, if all goes wrong a std pinto to replace the one i probably end up killing doesnt cost much at all.
good start saying that im only 19
