Default BOSCH 044 FUEL PUMP HELP

Just turned up today i have few fittings for it but can i remove the fitting in the pump pictured below which has a small spring in it for this -6 jic fitting.

Also im presuming the terminal end is the outlet end???? This is going on non Cosworth Ford so im unsure and have no reference. Many thanks in advance.

No not unless you replace it with another non return valve

if the pump is located below the level of the liquid, it should never loose prime

it is important that a non return valve is fitted and system pressure is maintained when the pump is off, it will prolong pump life and aid fast starting of the engine.
Basic rule to always remember bosh supplied it with a non return valve was it
a} they had a huge amount of non return valves they needed to get rid off
b}the designer engineers don't know what they are doing and are actually a bunch of refugees
c}the fundamental design of the pump and it's intended use requires the said non return valve

Gareth it is a gravity fed pump with a non return valve and must be installed with a positive head of pressure and a non return valve

to understand pumps more simply it might be easier to look at shower pumps on the web and their installation
The higher the flow pump the more danger of loosing intake supply.
Intake to the pumps is substantially larger than the outlet

Just spoken to think auto and they said it can be run with or without but like you say it does put more strain on the pump as it takes longer to prime the sytsem.

Il see how it goes without first then order extra fittigns if i decide its not perfect.
