Default Any VW techs in here?

I have a vr6 obd2 AAA which has a strange problem when cold.

starts fine, first time every time, move off put my foot down get to about 4krpm and it just dies then stalls, try cranking with clutch depressed and sounds like no compression. stop wait 15 seconds and it'll start up but run on 5 cylinders, hold it at about 1200rpm and after about another 15 seconds it'll kick in on six and run like a dream.

also if i wait just a minute or so at idle when first started it's fine once again.

If left outside all day in the sun it's the same when i come out of work, so i'm thinking not a moisture/ht related problem.

i've changed the oil to 10w/40 as i dunno what was in it before, plugs have been renewed, ht leads are all on tight [have special tool] theres no fault codes, i've cleaned the throttle body out, checked 02 senser is switching, which it is.

rapidly running out of ideas now, i've tried the vr6oc who have also ran out of ideas.

It's also been like it for 20k miles as it was in vw 20k miles ago for the same fault but they couldn't get to the bottom of it.

my feeling is it's the same symptons as a nikisel bmw block. but i don't think the vr6 uses nikisel liners.

any help please lads?

Couple of suggestions

1) Cant remember exactly but crank angle sender (should throw a sporadic though.)
2) Coil Pack dying slowly. (that might explain no faults)

Possible (but not that likely tbh)

Cam chain loosing tension. (thats a gearbox out job)
Crappy earth's

Have you done a Compression check yet? As its intermittant it would sound more likely (though of course not 100%) to be an electrical issue.

hmmmmmmm where would the compression be leaking too? as the cooling system isn't being pressurised?

i have got a small weep of oil from the head gasket on the front edge, aux belt side? could this be connected?

it's not using any water/oil, no smoke etc.

if it was coil back wouldn't i be experiencing worse symptons when it rained?
