Hi all, im after a Cosworth after dreaming of one for years, what one in your opinion would be the best for me, it would only be a weekend car and i want to mod it to 500+ and ive got a budget of 35k for car and mods

Motorsports command less money usually. You could prob get a right shit heap for Ł9500. A good base imo would be 14k

35K will NOT buy and build you a good spec 500bhp cossie from a standard base car IMHO unless its a RWD one.

get your self a real minter 2wd saff for about 6-7k and go to town on it

500+bhp and RWD = multiple grin factor

4wd and 500bhp is pretty awesome, but you need to spend serious money on transmission and diffs etc.

i bought my car for Ł8000 a 2wd saff v clean 450 bhp with 500 miles on new nms engine will hopefully be 480 once run in and live mapped. coilovers, big brakes, secs and defi link and even a spark plug in the exhaust
i could never build my car for anywhere near that amount.
just a quick example from my reciepts, for everything brand new t4 turbo, gearbox rebuild, new block with all gaskets seals bearings pistons with machining, wrc hgasket, and intercooler, oil cooler, larger rad and turbo pre cooler just that is Ł4600 ! and theres no labour in that and thats just the begining youve got a head rebuild, porting, injectors, air to air, water injection its never ending would cost a fortune and youl never get it back.
im on my fifth cossie now in 5 years and ive done about 15000 miles between them and after part xing my last saph to north yorks rs spares as shed broke her back i was roughly Ł1000 down and that includes repairs and tuning but not tyres and fuel. just my two pennence worth. good luck with whatever you do mate
