Default problem with clutch on 4wd cossie

rite

i went to see if the car moves today for the first time since build

it has a new alcon clutch and new ford cable

when i press the clutch fully i get a grinding noise

i can still get it into gear and if i go 3/4 way downand not fully but something isnt rite

ive spoken to martin @ reyland and he said that it could be travelling too far and that the clucth forks are being pushed into the plate which sounds logical

so has anyone had this before and is there a temp fix for it unless i can manage to get the money together in time to go hydraulic which i should of done in the first place

the ratchet system works fine on the pedal aswell

any ideas

I had simlar on mine but it ended up been the cover that was fooked, ended up taking box off 3 times to find that out, and changed ratachet, cable, spigot, and the box as i was reliably informed that the cover had only done 300 miles since fitting,

It is over tensioned just release the tension, lift pedal up with one hand and PUSH against the ratchet part with the other hand/thumb all the way it will then start the tension over again, sounds like someone has inadvertently pressed the pedal with out box/clutch attached.

was the clutch arm the same length?could also be the clutch ratchet as there are different sizes with different ratios.

could it be that the release bearing is not properly clipped into the arm?
would not move as the bearing is located on the input shaft

the relase bearing is fine im 100%

as i can select gears fine etc if i put the clutch 3/4s down

but if i was to fully depress the clutch as you would do normally driving (well i do anyhow) then there would be a grinding noise coming from the clucth

I doubt that's the cause, if so the plate would sit about 10mm off the flywheel!!
