These are on back order from Cosworth (and have been for six months), hence why no-one has one. There are some inferior copies being sold, but these have beem known to fail after a few thousand miles, so buy one of these at your peril. Always ask the seller if it is a GENUINE Cosworth item, if no, WALK AWAY!

Have seen some of the "copies" that have been done recently and the casting quality is shocking!!

As Mike says, if it's not genuine I'd give it a miss!

That's what I was trying to suggest, in my normal Polite Way.....It's another copy.

Didn't want to offend anyone by saying "Don't touch it with a bargepole, it's another copy"......

It normally takes a few thousand miles to show up any problems, although a couple of people off here had them fail in a few hundred miles .

What he said .
Ok, I have just rung Cosworth, thier new 4x4 oil pump is actually machined, not cast, so if you see any copies they will have casting marks . Also, thier high pressure kit is about £12, and the pump is £140+VAT (£164 all in). Thier number is 01604 598 300

The YBP oil pump is not made anymore, but was never a special item unlike the 2wd and 4x4 saff/ BT escort, but is a pinto pump, so nothing to worry about, the burton power one should be fine - Spoken directly to me by Cosworth

Do what you like to your engines, I'm sticking with the genuine Cosworth pump, as I KNOW of several people who have had failures with the copies . In fact Simon at Woodford stopped selling them for this reason....

Will,
"Should be fine" and "Will be fine" are two different things, if you want to speak to someone who has had one of these pumps fail first hand after less than 150miles, speak to Chris Honeywell. If you want to speak to someone who has been on the receiving end of irrate customers , speak to Simon at Woodford.

If you want to fit one of the cast pumps to your car, feel free. However, I would not sell one of these to any customer of mine.

i am talking about a T25 cosworth Oil pump here mike , I agree whole heartedly that the genuine pumps should be used on everything else. The guy at Cosworth I spoke to said that the T25 oil pump was just a pinto pump anyway, due to not having the spray bar, and Burton have been direct customers of thiers for 30 years...... Can't see Burton selling shit to be honest

i bought a pump for my engine from ggd and its only the internal part so thats why its cheap

it says you have to machine the old cover to fit

i learnt the hard way 180 miles .....................................no oil pressure, metal swarf in the oil

complete rebuild again inc head gasket, piston rings, shells, bearings, pump, more long studs

fuckn nightmare, had to sell my 4x4 saph to pay for it

second time round got a 2wd pump from burton(only person i could get it from at time)

they told me they were genuine cosworth pumps, but looking at this thread im a bit unsure now,but ive done 3000miles

and umteen run up on the rollers to 75000rpm and its been fine so far

Will,
I have oil jets and a proper pump in my car - in my opinion, it's the ONLY way to go. I would not sell any EECIV customer anything other than the proper Cosworth pump.

Mike - can you get a good price on a high pressure 2wd pump ?

I got one from GGR, but the fucker will go in the bin before it goes in my new engine.
