Default dangerouse appliance

i bought a hotpoint tumble dryer 18 months ago,its never worked very well, and after much nagging by the mrs,i took it to bits today to see what was wrong.the coonts had only left a wire off the motor,it was trapped behind the back panel,no where near it should connect, and on the reverse action it was live, how fookin lucky was we that it didnt kill anyone.phoned hotpoint to complain and they would not do anything because i took it to bits.not a happy bunny.

WE had a firm out ot ours(hotpoint washer dryer) years ago as the heaty bit did not work.
The man came in without his toolbox, carrying only a screwdriver.
I asked him if he wanted a cup of tea, he said, "no thanks mate only be here two mins then it will be fixed", confused as I was I watched as he undid the back of the w/d put a wire back on and tested it all ok, perfect.
I said how did you know, he said they always leave them off, so I said but aren't they tested ?, so he said I'm sure you can work that one out!!

not really dangerous was it, as if it had touched the panel it would have just shorted to earth and blown the fuse

not good though, but at least you have a cheap fix
