having a lull in the office at the moment, i decided to have a bit of a clear up through some of the cabinents and found a few of the appraisal forms from a few years ago

boy, what a difference a few years makes eh

my, then, boss filled his in and it totalled about 11 pages including the cover that you write you name and position etc on, not bad considering it's got 78 pages worth of paper you can write on

i on the other hand, crammed every spare ilne i cuold (mainly because i had an electronic copy so i typed it out on the pc while everyone else got sore figners writing them out iwith a pen )

some excerts from the former boss:

Planning and Organising:
"I am good at organising and planning and take pride in my ability"

the same organising skills he showed when he booked 4 vans in for a service on the same day, then said they were available to route and then sent 2 of them to a different depot the weekend before, and then phoned up asking wehre they were

Relationship Manegment:
"I have a good relationship with all the managers that I have had contact with, they find me helpful and always willing to accommodating to their requirements."

he was always bragging about how our ops manager was his best mate and that sort of riled everyone else he met in the company, i don't know what theops manager thought about him to be honest as it's not the sort of discussions i wold be party to (mind you, i spoke to him yesterday thinking he was osmeone else but when i found out i was like "ohshitohshitohshitohshitohshitohsit!!!!!!!!" because my opening line was "alight mate, how's things up there today!" )

Problem solving:
"I consider what the problem is and carefully decide a solution before deciding the course of action that I feel would solve the problem. In conjuction with others I will place into action the course of action I have decided upon"

Decision Making:
I find it easy to make decisions. If I found I was unsure of a course of action I would always take advise. All dicisions that I have to make are carefully considered before I take any course of action."

Delivering Resluts:
I always make every effort to make sure I do everything I can to make sure I deliver the correct resluts."



it's wirten down exactly as he's put it (but you know me and speeling don't mix so there may be some errors but they'll be speeling mistakes rather than anything else, it's all the same as the paperwork)

and kerry lost a foot in a motorbike accident and wrestled with a wooden foot wrapped up well and good so it didn't come off

it's also why his finishing move was a swinging punch because he couldn't balance that well

thing is, you have to write up yourself in order for the manager who's reviueing you gives a good bit of feedback to payroll
you've also got to big yourself up so that the company feels that you are worth a bit of a pay increase

last year i got around a Ł300 bigger payrise than the other guys who work here (even though they were on Ł2k basic less than me) mainly because of the review which higlighted loads of stuff that i was doing that they didn't realise i did
i also got a bigger bonus payment because i contributed more to the depot than anyone else so it's all good

spending a day writing about what you've done over the past year to earn yourself Ł800 isn't a bad way to spend time is it

so, how many others have done self appreaisals then?

 

i have i ahte them our company just want you to write things to make them seem good so we al just take the piss like whats the best part of you work to which the reply came 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600 and they didnt like it
