Default 3 Door anti roll bar bushes, where from? - SORTED - from PJ!

Just tried local ford dealer and been told they are no longer available.

Also, what diameter are the various different roll bars for:
1.6
XR4
3 door / 500
2wd saph
4wd saph

Just so I can check which size mine is when I get home.

Think that might be a bit of a costly option when all I need is the bushes, lol

My old man just went out and measured it and informs me that the diameter goes from 28.02 to 27.90 depending on where its measured (he is a fairly accurate and thorough sort of chap, lol)

So sounds like you are right with the 28mm Matt.

Where can I get some in a hurry, MOT retest is booked for Friday midday.

Edit, slight misunderstanding, he measured the front one as I just said "the antiroll bar" without mentioning which end, oops!

I will send him back out to measure the rear now

first up, you need to be a bit more specific as to which bushes you are actually after

the tca bushes are all the same, the one that vary in thickness are the arb to body ones

they come in 3 sizes, 24mm, 26mm and 28mm for the sierra and, before you start rushing to buy them, certain sizes also require the clamps for the coresponding bush

if you were to attempt to fit bushes from, say, a granada that came with the same arb (be they 26 or 28mm) you might find that the clamps are physically bigger or smaller than the ones you have one at themoment

even though the holes int he chassis are constant, due to the difference in sixe od the clamp that holds it in place, the bush will also be that much bigger/smaller

it would be much easier to measure the arb in situ (on a straight bit, not a bent bit of the arb) and then get bushes for the sierra for that size rather than guestimate as it's a favorite trick of ford to swap between the 26 and 28mm versions through the production

you are probably looking at the 28mm versions but there is always the possibility it'll be the 26mm versions too

I think you must have sent me the wrong ones when I originally ordered my 3 door set from you then mike.

I did notice they were a little loose at the time, and meant to get some new ones, but as it drives fine (its amazing how loose things like that can be and you still not notice when driving on the road!) I forgot all about it till the MOT man reminded me.

Do you have the 14mm ones in stock Mike if that is the size I need, as its important I get them by friday morning at the VERY latest, they are pretty much worthless to me if I dont have them by then as it means shelling out 50 quid for a new MOT.

I would have most certainly asked for 3dr ones for you. I suppose there's no chance that you have the packaging still do you, as the reference would tell me what they sent you?

I only have Sapphire 4x4 ones in stock at the moment at Powerflex seem to be working on a 7-10 day lead time at the moment due to the show season....

However, I would still prefer you to measure the ARB to confirm for sure and I would see what I could do regarding lead time .

Did the 1.6 sierra have a ARB from the factory does anyone know?

(as if not then I can just take the ARB off for the retest!)

According to Powerflex, it is not listed, so I would assume not .

Hmm, at least thats one option then, to just take the bar off, as if it wasnt factory fitted to a 1.6 I dont legally need it for a test, even though obvioulsy the cossie my car is reshelled from had one.

Nice when the red tape works in my favour for once, lol

PJ Motorsport have them in stock and are sending them out next day delivery, so problem solved

If they dont arrive for any reason though, I will just take the ARB off till they do!

if you take the arb off you might as well renew the drop links as soemtimes the rubber in the middle can get a bit brittle

and i probably need a new pair of specs if you have said "rear" arb somewehre chip
