Default brake discs rusting , how/what stops it?

where the pads don't touch the disc it rusts up ,
what can you put on there to stop it?
do you bother?
its just that its quite a big area and its gona look sheeeet

its cause its cast iron & it rusts like bugger. u could sand it off & paint the area but it will come back through (rear drums are the same)

nothing you can do really.

ultimatly you can remove the wheels and fit a shield of some type over the the disc to stop rain comming through the spokes of the wheels and sitting on the discs.

its not the sort of thing that would bother me tbh. i usually have a long list of bigger more expensive issues to take care of first.

You need to paint the un-used parts of the disk, choice of colour is yours, mine has lasted years, did the hub part of the disk, and the edges.

The zinc comes off the braking surface in about the first 10 miles or so.

Stays everywhere else (on the bell and in the vanes etc). Just dont use wonder wheels or similar on them.

I think EBC do the same on there disks.

Powdercoated bells,and smothrite on the calipers

A bit cleaner than when they arrived in the box
