Default Loosing faith :-(

Just looking for advice realy on this.Im at a stage now where im getting sick of owning the rs.Its took 2 1/2 years and 13k to get where i am and all ive got is a car that needs constant maintenance and is as far from pratical as an ashtray is to a motorbike :-( my new job means i work 7 and have 2 off so i dont have time to repair/maintain it or get to drive it. When i do use it something else happens to it. Right now ive got misfire at 6k,kurbed drivers side wheels, possible cracked block, fucked clifford alarm, spongy brakes, cylinder head with OBSOLETE followers, high running temps, exhaust thats burnt through rear bumper and other niggles. I just havent got time to fix it due to having 3 kids, her indoors and a house to keep and only 2 days in 9 to do it in.Having 2 buckets isnt handy either.Where do i go? Sell up or put up

Seems a shame to give up with a nice car like that.

Depends wether you need the money, maybe just store the car and eventually finish it sometime.

Also, the way you described it, it may not be worth that much anyway so i would keep it.

m8 i think i can say we all feel like that from time to time. thats what owning an old ford is about. but i'm determind to finish mine. there will always be something that goes wrong if you got the patience finish it if you aint then sell up and buy something newer. its a shame tho cos your car does look nice.

Yep, break it or sell it! get something you can enjoy whenever you get a spare second! and not have to worry about breaking it or fixing it!

Elises are simple fun little cars and the prices are getting lower and lower... or get a nice BMW coupe that the whole family can enjoy...

If you want a cheap trackcar, try and find a WELL SORTED sorted 1.9 Pug 205. Normally aspirated fun! don't get a shonky one though or you are back to where you started.

if it has a really tidy shell then store & finish it whenever you want. good examples are getting harder to find and you might regret selling it in a few years if it goes.

Steve,

Car's can be like this at time's I'm affraid, and it is demoralising. What I'd do is take a momment to think about things. There's no point in rushing to a decision. Everything is fixable that you mention, and you need to consider how to go about this. If you have'nt got the time at the momment then its probably best to store the car until you do have time.

Having a break from something until you've got spare time is often the best way as you can then approach your issues with more patience and see where you want to go with the car. The one thing I must say though is modded cars are rarely straight forward, and if you need a car thats just jump in a go everytime, then you'd be best off with something more standard.

Speak soon,

Ste

Last year I got myself a nice standard every day RST= it was a great car and I really enjoyed driving it and owning it- until I decided to turn it into a track orientated car.
It became uncomfortable, not nice to drive, noisey etc. Then I smashed it and brought Tims... we'll you know that one.

In this situation you need to look beyond the cost and look at what will make you a happy person- because ultimatly being happy with a wife and Kids is the most important thing.

If the answer is sell it- do so.
If the answer is store it- do it.... I think the last thing you will do to be fair is sort all the issues out.

Best of luck mate- if u brake it I'll have the braided fuel lines tho.

Chin up mate...

J

A fuckin honda! Id rather lick my own arsehole!!! Slow as shit, made a type r look pathetic on the ring.
When the car goes its a right laugh and makes a great toy, i dont need it as an everyday driver but i do need it to work when i come to it. It just needs a good few days on it. Wish there was a garage up north that would take as much pride in their work as i do then i could get them to do it. Any offers? I dont think i'll ever sell it, no point, got too much in it to write it off. Car is in decent condition realy so theres no rush to get it finished i suppose. Just sick of throwing money at it and getting absolutely nowhere. Could have bought the 6 outright if i hadnt started this.

mate i know how you feel but lets face it the car is a one off bar from tonys this has to be one of the best turbos in the country after a weekend away at the ring if like me you will have had enough of cars for a week or so as karl said just leave it a few weeks and your entusiasm will come back
PS if you could seehow good it looks on the road and on the back of the trailer you would not sell
