how th ehell do you refit and adjust gearchange rod on CVH

Default how th ehell do you refit and adjust gearchange rod on CVH

took mine off to change gearbox how do i know were to position it when i tighten it up so gearbox is nice and tight and in lign again?

put the gearbox in reverse with a screw driver under the car, get your mate to hold the gear stick in the reverse position then refit the rod and do the 13mm nut up job done.

just as long as you have someone holding the gearstick in the car in the reverse position and the box in reverse it will go on fine

Or just put a bit of rod into the hole in the bottom of the lever when it is in 4th (I think it is) before undoing linkage. Stops the linkage moving when released. That is the proper way to do it.

ok right still having probs first of all ive got o figure out if i have a s1 or s2 box as the haynes say select Reverse for S1`s and 5th for S2?

ive tried both but just cant get it right first question

how far out does the rod in the gearbox have to come out before tightened the linkage?

Have you got a S1 or an S2? The boxes are different between cars.

Assuming you have an S2.....

...looking @ the box from the rear of the car.

Turn the gearchange rod in the box left and then pull towards you. This will select 5th.

Basically, whatever you have to do to select the gear on the gearstick, do the exact opposite on the gearbox to get the same action.

i just locked it in 4th usinf the hole and gearstick, then pushed the gear selector rod forward while it is not at an angle, tighten all up and seems fine
