Default Cam question/advice

For me saph , a 4x4, i want to uprate my cams. I have heard a lot about Bd14 etc, but do i need to genuinely replace both, or can i get away with just replacing my exhaust one????????

Dont touch the exhaust cam at all

If you uprate to BD14 you will need to pocket the pistons.

All depends on what power you ultimately want

You will/can EASILY get 360 without touching the cams.

wont need a bd14 cam for 360bhp maybe a set of bd10s then go up to light blue injectors have to pocket the pistons due to the extra lift i seem to remember?

I personally wouldnt touch the cams at all for that power as the benefits
will only be felt with head porting/live map etc...

BD14 cam has a higher lift which moves them very close to the piston
when the valve opens.
At high rpm there is a danger they can touch so the pistons are pocketed
to allow a better clearance.

Just go for the intake cam, NOT the exhaust cause it flows more then anough.
You CAN use the std pistons but they have to be ajusted wery precisely because the cams lift a bit more.
But it is advisable that you pocket the pistons

Mine has a little head porting and standard cams with light blue injectors and a T34.55 turbo.

It made 371bhp and 351lb/ft @ 25psi peak boost.

Steve.

Thanks

Was in the June issue of Fast Ford and won the dyno day

The car would make even more power if it had a better map and more boost.

Steve.
