i wouldn't say big problems? get one with some kind of warrenty and you should be fine.

i've known of a couple that have had suspension worries - budget atleast a grand - but these cars have tend to have had a hard life.

buy a GX with no fancy electrickery in the suspension and it will run forever

i know of a couple aswell...i,v had 2 new ones...first one in 02 new set of suspension sensors at 5000 miles....by the time i sold it at 47000miles it had had 5 sets of sensors and had a 2 week stay with toyota towards the end of its 3 year warranty to sort a suspension problem they couldnt diagnose...ended up having to get someone from toyota technical in to fix it for them.

another problem is steering column motors on the VX same car had 4 sets of column motors by the time i sold it

VX number 2...bought new in september 05....3700 miles guess what..back to toyota for a set of suspension sensors
5500 miles....back to toyota for a set of steering column motors
its done 16,500 miles now and has been behaving its self ....so i might keep it longer than 3 years

it could be worse though....buy a landrover or range rover then you,ll really get to know your service manager at the main dealer well!

davie did i mention buy a GX?

dont get me wrong they are a superb car....the only thing that lets them down is the suspension sensor issues....i,m surprised toyota havent cured that problem after the current model running for around 8 years

if i was looking to spend 10k i wouldnt even consider the VX because of the cost of the suspension sensors i beleive they are around £750 a set

one of my mates has a 98 GX so it has conventonal suspension and manual steering column adjustment and it has never given him any problems ,its done 120k which is just run in for one of these

I've ran a 3.2 DiD LWB for the last 3 years.

Gearbox syncros went so sent the box off for rebuild (its a manual) but besides that its not missed a beat.

Tinted the glass and upgraded to 2006 alloys.

Paid a bargain price of £13k 3 years ago with 30k miles (off ebay) its prolly worth £10-11k now so its been very cheap motoring, mileage now is 62k. Might be time for a change soon!

This is the only pic I have...

dont spit the dummy kev ,just trying to get a bigger picture as to what is going on with these sensors,,heard that toyota would fix the issue on any vx up to 100;000 miles regardless of valid warranty! true??

and the gx doesn't have all the good bits

We've got a range rover vougue 04 plate at work, loves going back to get shit fixed as did the two landrovers before it. Must say though the TD5 engine is fucking great and stomps along at a fair pace, even wi a saff on the trailer behind it. Cant pass a petrol station if your caning it !

Cherokee, gas guzzling american shite that wont do corners, had a few very near misses in my mates old one.

Shoguns, hate them.

Landcruiser Know fuck all about them though

I love my Cherokee 5.9

I've gotten rid of the 4wd and use it in 2wd mode all the time and it's fucking great! Fast alright for a big barge, extremely luxurious (it's a the fully kitted out Grand Cherokee limited) and comfortable.

Mine's dark purple with black leather and blacked out windows

Had nothing go wrong with it and it gets abused allright!

It's crap in tight corners but what do you expect?
