Make sure you get your resettlement courses booked early, there is a big waiting waiting list on most courses at Aldershot.

12 months is because they need to find a replacement. In Rads case, no-one as the trade has died. In engineers, etc. etc. etc. they have to give time for training.. Still don't see why as there isn't a real shortage in people joining. Just a shortage in talented people joining.

 

My trade is 6 months PVR, I've choose 12 months for a reason... It gives me time to sort a few things out

nope,i just left,cos they seem to think they can fuck you about and make you do civvy stuff when it suits them and then treat you like military grunts when you ask why!its bollocks basically,they have fucked up the armed forces!

 

Only reason I am still in is that I have a decent wage (27k), get to go flying very cheaply, and It is a secure job for when I get a mortgage.....

A lot of that is the Army mate. The RAF have just had a 2nd bout of redundnacies in certain area to get rid of people as they had too many !

They've got rid of them to "save money" on their wages compared t onewer recruits. False economy. They've been given cash redundancy, but their savings on wages will go toward training the new recruits. Plus they've lost so much experience it's silly.

 

Not that we have too many, the BEANCOUNTERS think we have too many , we are vastly undermanned, and underfunded and overstretched. Lads are doing 4 or 5 6 week dets in one year , and thats to shit holes like Kandahar, basrah etc The tac transport fleet and support helicopter fleet are having a crap time at the moment, place to be is typhoons, doing fook all apart from Vegas

 

Well yeh, obviously other people who don't do the work made those decisions, mate. Why do you think people are getting multi-skilled? Can effectively reduce 1/2 the workforce as they are "capable" of doing two jobs.

Typhoons will be starting on ops soon..so not exactly the best place to be there neither. They have taken over QRA at Coningsby now. They are due ooa's Ops in the New Yr I believe.
Oh btw..the next one is China Lake, Cali..not Vegas

Dave, your not far wrong... I've had nearly 6 weeks sick over the last 3 months with depression .. and theres plenty more to come!

Tonight in work was a fine example of working with the pricks that I do... a certain person thats out the RAF in a week, but he still has to be a fucking pain and grass me up for having a laugh
