1988 Flint Grey 2wd Sapphire Cosworth. Recaro cloth trim.

Genuine 74k miles.

This car is immaculate for a 20 year old. It was dry stored in my garage, but is now being used on a daily basis, and has always been reliable.

Never chipped and still absolutely standard! Never been messed about with. Only exception of the following items.

4x4 Bonnet. Momo steering wheel (have std available).

Good Bits:
Not concourse (i.e. brand new), but Immaculate Paint and Bodywork (for a 20 year old)
Recent new parts fitted:
Battery.
Radiator.
Silicone Hoses.
Group A Head Gasket.
4 new tyres.

Bad Bits:
Rear spoiler paint is dull. Small mark around N/S door lock. Sill Jacking Cap missing.
Heater fan sometimes squeaks. Air con pump removed. Original Radio missing.

£4500 will purchase this very unique and genuine rare Cosworth.

you could buy a brand new automatic saff cosworth, it was an option from a dealers (think it was around Oxford area, poss Hertford motors?)

my mate bought his cossie as an auto from factory!!! was tuned high comp motor lol obviously put a manny box in it tho!

your saying cosworth made some special YBs with higher comp pistons for autos?

i doubt that somehow?

 

no he bought it as that!! obviously tuned at a later date but came with auto from factory, just rather funny that someone had specced it up / engine re build etc etc. may of been disabled tho i guess.

 

Ford were not unknown for doing special auto such as RS2000, MK2 for visiting big wigs from ford in the us to drive as they only drive auto a lot of them, may have been a few of these.

I have seen a gen 3 door auto

I have seen the bill of sale also that came with the car and it clearly stated AUTO on the paperwork

Dont fancy one myself , but saying that at least its somthing new to look at , at the shows

The Ford dealer Hartford Motors of Oxford offered an after sales service converting 2wd cosworths into autos, at the end of the day a YB block is only a 2 litre Pinto one, easy enough to use a pinto auto box from a normal sierra retro fitted

One is even shown in Classics in Colour - Ford Sierra Cosworth by Foy and West.

 

I am a nutter when it comes to stuff like this and I am sure one or two autos were made, but with out looking my books I cannot remmber if they were saffs or 3 doors.
