Cheapest doesnt = best IMO

Buy the most expensive you can afford.

Depends quite a lot on the turbo you plan to use to achieve the power as the turbo will largely dictate the powerband that the power will be achieved at, and thus it makes a massive difference to the cylinder pressures created.

Yes. Thats what at least 90% of the classic 500+ spec engines contain.
Standard Mahle pistons with pockets for cams.

What turbo would you recommend for 400bhp on a standard engine with uprated headgasket?

Slap me when we meet if thats a stupid question!

What internals? Standard?

How wide is the power though? Is it laggy on a .63 housing?

Lightened and balanced bottom end, new shells etc
Uprated oil pump
( Poss pistons, if i decide what ??? )
fully overhauled std head possibly with the new Kent cams to Ahmed Spec
T34 / .63 ( cut back blades etc )
500 cooler

Standard internals, bit laggy with the .63, 4.3K-7K is the good power

What makes you think a t34/63 will be laggy?

laggy compared to what? a T3?

I think it would be good turbo for a road car, full boost by 3500 or earlier?

.63 is laggy compared to a T34.48 and compared to the gunship of Steves very laggy

Does it matter if you use 2 or 4wd pistons(mahle) to machine down?

What sort of ring gaps and piston to bore clearance on em?

I heard cosworth pistons needed lots of piston to bore clearance, high

expansion material used?
