i just wondered what drug is it they use? and what exactly does it do? is it like putting them into a very deep coma kinda thing

Sorry i know its abit random but it was just one of them things you think about and dont know the answer

I knew i wouldnt be able to ask this without a sarcastic comment.

This isnt the muppet room? but if you really must know we had our dog of 17 years put to sleep while i was working this morning, hence me thinking about the above

usually a combo of drugs, or at least is with humans...

one to kill pain, one to shut down organs, one to prevent oxygen being absorbed etc

when i had my rabbit put to sleep when i was a kid

elbow grease was used

it had its neck snapped cos it was cheaper than the vets poor bugsy, my parents are so mean

Not sure what it is, but its such a nice way for them to go. Very quick, and about as painless as it can be i think! I was with our dog when he was put to sleep earlier this year, very upsetting seeing him go but better that than seeing them suffer.......

According to wikipedia " Unconsciousness, respiratory then cardiac arrest follow rapidly, usually within 30 seconds["
