Try swapping the iscv over as there the same on the xr2i's you could get one from a scrapy or just nick one off a mate It could be the edis

clean it out, or buy one from me and ill clean it out before i send it ya.

other problems could be bad TPS, or a sensor, could be down to water temp sensor in the inlet manifold.

you running the right air sensor for a turbo car?

could poss be down to a MAP senosr.
i take it you have checked for air leaks on the vack pipes etc

yeah i've checked for leaks, as that was me first reaction
i've also replaced the msp sensor and its made no difference.
i'll try the iscv, clean it etc
i'm running all the right sensors as it was a complete frst inlet i bought with everything still in place- just looks like a few bits on it may not be in A1 condition- if the iscv doesn't improve or owt with cleaning i may take u up on ur offer jay

get some carb cleaner, a small brush and some cotton buds.
the thing with cleaning them is most people just spray in the holes to clean the crap out, but you need to separate the valve from the body, then push the rod in to open the valve and clean the seat, rotate the rod and keep cleaning, prob need the brush or cotton buds for that, but strub at it inside to work as much crap off as poss, your get it clean in no time fella.

just tell me quick though, in the inlet manifold, on the right hand side as you look at it, there is a sensor hanging out, which one of the below does it look like?

and no piss taking out of my hands

I've just had a very similar problem with my EFi Escort that I've converted to OFAC.

When the car is warm or running - try unplugging the coolant temperature sensor. If the engine suddenly picks up then the problem is exactly the same as mine and I might have a solution.

Hardly. My problem was caused by the inlet manifold wiring harness being incompatible with the main loom. I put the original 1AFA harness back on and the problem completely disappeared.

It would appear that there may be a couple of pins swapped between OFAC and 1AFA looms on this harness but I haven't had a chance to find out which wires yet.

In any case the affected component appears to be the ECT sensor and if you unplug it the idle and general running improves considerably. Once I've tested the two harness I'll find what the difference is ...

cant see it being different, ive never come across a different one, sure the wiring on the old one wasnt fucked somewhere along the wire, or even the plug??

sometimes problems are due to a dry connection, a bit of WD40 sorts it out

Nope - all the wires tested for continuity OK.

This is an Mk4 Escort main loom - not a Fiesta one.

got it running right, slight miss but it revs and idles- new plugs should sort the miss
twas the ecu, bad connection on a couple of the pins, stripped it down and thoroughtly cleaned it and all is good
also did a compression test be4 i found it was the ecu
155, 155, 150, 150- well pleased with that as i only recently rebuilt her
