Default Got a problem with my Mk3 Fiesta

Basically, starting yesterday I changed a rear bulb in my car because it had blown, the bulb doesnt sit in the holder properly and has to be wedged in to stay in and stay on instead of flickering. Since I changed that everytime I touch my brakes the dipped beam lights come on, including the rear lights and the number plate light.
I checked all earths today which seem fine and took the bulb out of the dodgy holder to see if the holder was to blame. I started the engine and tapped the brakes and funnily enough the brake lights didn't work BUT the normal lights didnt come on either (Which recently the normal lights have been coming on whenever I touch the brakes). I put the bulb holder back in the rear light and now the car won't even start. I tried starting it with the bulb holder in and out and it still won't come to life

Any advice on what it may be please

simple. you have fitted the wrong bulb. It should be a twin filament, pop up to halfords and get yourself the right one.

as for why it won't start, well that is odd

I think they are twin filament, car still won't start and don't have a clue what to do next or who to take it to

do you get any clicking from under the bonnet? switch the headlights on then try to start it. do the lights go dim when it tries to start? if so, possibly just a dead battery? do all other electrics work??

No clicking what so ever. I turn the lights on and only ONE dipped beam light comes on. I've had the jump leads on it and like i say it doesn't even turn over

hmm, bit queer

gotta be a main fuse somewhere. when you say you checked all the earths, did you remove anything? has everything been reattached properly, including ALL the wires onto the battery? I seem to remember my missus's old mk3 fez having a small black earth wire that gets easily lost behind the battery.

SORTED Checked the fuses like you said and one had blown, quick trip to the petrol station and bought a small box of fuses, job done. Thanks for the advice
