Default Removing the speedo cable from clocks

I need to remove the clocks from my Escort Cabriolet 1996 (fitting a set of white dialed clocks). I always have the same problem, the speedo cable is a nightmare to get off. Is there a nack to this because I always spend ages frigging about with them?

if its the same as the older ford speedo cables you have to squeeze either side of the plastic, theres only 1 place on either side of the plastic that will squeeze in then once youve found the right place it will slide off while you still have it sqeezed in,hope that helps

Hello mate, yes, that's what I thought you had to do, and I obviously haven't found the right place yet. Oh well, onward ever onward, at least I know I'm on the right track. Just takes patience I suppose, not something I'm known for. Thanks for that.

Cheers Dave, I thought it was just me that didn't have the knack. I've never yet found it easy to get one out. We shall struggle on.

Done it! They're out. What a bugger of a job. Thanks for spurring me on folks.

I'll have to start putting some pics of her up as I go along. She's not exactly an Escort Cossie, but will be some cheap fun for a while til I sort my life out a bit.
