Is it oil or water ? Head gasket failure could also be worth considering ?

Either do a block test and see what colour the dye goes or pop round to your local MOT place and hover the CO tester by the header tank. If theres a reading of co's its your h/gasket. Also check your turbo for wear and see how much oil is in the boost pipes.

Does it just to do it on satrt up? Possibly valve stem seals.

You'll need to be a bit more specific m8 for an over the net diagnosis, as to when, etc, etc, etc .....

white smoke is water being burnt.
black is fuel
blue is oil.

can't be turbo as S1's aren't water cooled. Looks like the heads coming off!

Craig, we all know Alans eye sight isn't that good.... It was proof enough when he climbed into the the kiddies play boot in the pub garden at the bull and then asked for a jump start when it wouldn't fire up

Mine was only running on 1 & 4 a couple of weeks ago, & it was the dizzy cap mate.

As for the white smoke....have you done an oil change, could be fresh oil burning, thats why its white plus you would be able to smell the oil, if its like a grey/blackish colour its just unburnt fuel mate.

Mine was only running 1 & 2 and this turned out to be a headgasket failure.

The white smoke would indicate water vapour and as somebody has allready pointed out the S1 is not a water cooled unit so I think you can rule that out. My money would be on headgasket failure. Valve stem seals failing would allow oil into the combustion chamber not water so the smoke from that would be blue.

Do another compression test and post the results on here mate.
