most iscv problems are due to a incorrectly set up tps. when the ecu sees the thottle is open even the smalllest ammount the iscv opens.
if it happens some times and not others maybe the throttle isnt always closing to the same position?
also air leaks are a critical factoe in adjusting idle speed..Make sure you havnt got any!

for your abs sensor try paul @ ny spares or pete @ rs spares they will be able to sell you one for not silly money provided they have some good ones in that is
i got one from pete for about Ł40 if i remember correctly and it was mint.

Most ISCV play up because of the shit design as well.
It will do no harm providing it rests closed and not open, just unplug it, as said idle will be a bit lumpy when cold etc, it will just remind you of dodgy choke carby days!!

You might get troubles with the engine "hunting" upon idle/tickover. It might even stall every once in a while. I'd get it fixed. I am not sure but maybe the ISCV on the 2.0i DOHC (8v) Sierra is the same? Plenty of those available I'd say.
I was just thinkling, AFAIK the ISCV hardly ever really breaks. Is the hose connected properly? Maybe it's split? Or the gasket on the ISCV wasn't sealing properly?
