Default Changing over to digital TV from analogue

OK, the government want us all to change to digital.

Now, I assume most of you on here have sky/cable. However, as I rarely spend time in the house, I thought that would be a sill idea, so I treated myself to a £30 freeview box.

Now, as soon as a bit of rain drops down, thats it, the TV is fecked. The picture goes pixelly, jumpy, freezes, sound stops etc etc. I find myself turning the box off and going back on to analogue.

How can they make everyone change to digital when, in my opinion, it's fucking shite?

Is it an incentive for everyone to go cable/sky??

Well, it can't be the box as my mum and dads downstairs does it, and that was over £100.00.

It's run off a proper external arial on the roof

when its storms or shit weather the sky goes down for a bit here in my place.

at least with an old analogue aerial you could still watch it and see it... bit wobbly, bit snowy but at least it don't sound like fucking R2D2 on crack and freeze or you get one small square

Sky should only get buggered up if the rain is pretty heavy/torrential. If it's going nuts when the rain isn't that bad, it usually means your dish needs to adjusted, probably just ever, ever so slighty.

The wind got hold of mine one day, so once it calmed down, I just went up on the roof and shoved it back the opposite way, only a few mm's and it all came back on.

COntinued to get no signal in rain/wind until I finally got off my lazy ass and got the dish tightened up in the correct position - not had any trouble since!!

The reason sky is more prone, is because that signal is digital, which is more precise than analgoue, therefore your dish needs to be 100% bang on to get good pics in all weather.

I'm wondering what's gonna happen when the terrestrial stuff is digital too, might have the same probs!!

Yes digital signal gives you better picture, but is so much more prone to being affected unfortunately

When analogue is stopped for TV broadcasts the strength of the digital signal will be increased.
